Origem de Cumbuco
Em tupi-guarani, a palavra Cumbuco significa “onda longa e baixa”, de acordo com informações fornecidas por nativos. Assim, casas, escola, posto médico, posto policial e telefônico foram construídos na região. Vale salientar que nenhum dos pescadores foi expulso de sua terra, e todos receberam as suas casas com uma escritura pública de doação.
Em janeiro de 1978, foi inaugurada oficialmente a Colônia de Pescadores Z-7 de Cumbuco, e meses depois, em agosto, nasceu a Praia de Cumbuco. Hoje, se consolida como um dos destinos mais procurados para turismo no Nordeste brasileiro.
